Power From on High: Celebrating the Day of Pentecost Across Cities – A Unified Sunday Service Strengthening Church Planting in Pakistan
Date: June 8, 2025
By: Dr. Naeem Nasir
On Sunday, June 8, 2025, churches across Pakistan came together to celebrate one of the most pivotal events in Christian history – The Day of Pentecost. This wasn’t an ordinary service. It was a spirit-filled moment of unity, revival, and vision for the future of church planting in Pakistan.
I had the unique privilege of preaching the message titled “Power From on High: The Gift of Pentecost” from Acts 2:1–4. The Lord made a way for us to connect three churches simultaneously through Zoom, bringing together believers from Lahore, Dina, and Sialkot. It was a beautiful picture of the early church – scattered geographically, yet united by the power of the Holy Spirit.
A Message That Resonates: Power From on High
Our focus was on the incredible narrative of Acts chapter 2, where the Holy Spirit descended and empowered the believers:
-
Pentecost fulfills God’s promise
-
The disciples were united in prayer
-
The Holy Spirit came suddenly
-
Everyone was filled with divine power
-
They spoke in new tongues
-
The crowd was amazed and confused
-
Hearts were convicted and lives transformed
This wasn’t just a message for the early church—it’s a message for the Church in Pakistan today. The birth of the Church at Pentecost reminds us that revival begins when God’s people come together in unity, prayer, and expectation.
Strengthening the Vision: Church Planting in Pakistan
At Church Planting in Pakistan, our mission is to ignite the fire of Pentecost in every town, village, and city across the nation. Sunday’s service reminded us of the foundational truths of our calling:
-
We are called to unite the Body of Christ, regardless of geography or denomination.
-
We are called to preach with power, not just in words but with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
-
We are called to multiply the Church, just as the early believers did when thousands were added to their number.
This Pentecost Sunday was more than a celebration; it was a commissioning service. We are committed to seeing new churches planted, pastors empowered, and communities transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Moving Forward with Fire and Purpose
We believe that the Holy Spirit’s fire that descended in the upper room is the same fire burning in the hearts of Pakistani believers today. As we continue to reach the unreached, disciple new leaders, and plant churches, we ask for your continued prayers and support.
Let’s work together to fulfill the Great Commission in Pakistan. Let’s keep the flame of Pentecost alive — not just for a day, but for a lifetime.
